a couple sailing questions?
ok so i love to sail and i got a few questions for the other sailors out there:
1) any one else own a bristol 24? if so does yours sail faster on a port tack (just a funny little thing i noticed the other day on sparrow)
2) was naming my sunfish ruby tuesday a bad idea? (named for the song not the resturaunt!!! every one thinks im food obsessed!!!)
3) what does ship rig look like (refering to 1800s canonn-sail wars) i know frigate, i know brig but ship confuses the hell outta me, i cant get the differnce between ship and frigate even though my dad has tried again and again to explain it
3) any body know of a cleaning solution that could remove wallpaper glue? (some freako who used to own sparrow decided it would be great to put shag wall paper all over her foward cabin, ive been trying to clean it off for two years now without much success)
5) whats your favorite boat name!?
ok now i dont expect any one to answer all of these, but please just one!! im curious!!!!

For the removal , Over wood or fiberglass ? hard or soft ? Hard try a power sander , soft try Interlux 299E stripper its safe to use on fiberglass but a bit on the expensive side , 30 bucks for a quart . Boat name I always pass this boat named “Wife got the House” makes me grin .Port or starboard tack ? If this happens always “perhaps ” it is a characteristic of the boat . More than likely just your angle to the wind or current .

as for #1, boats can sail faster on port as opposed to starboard if the rigging is tensioned unevenly.
The more common reason is that the thru-hull for the knotmeter is twisted…if the paddlewheel is not aligned up with the centerline of the boat you can get different readings, even if you’re doing the same speed on both tacks.
Take a GPS unit out with you, see if it gives you the same reading on both tacks.
