I have no idea what type of sail it is. I have been out a few times this season and its doing just fine. Up wind preformance isn’t the greatest, but I think its mostly to do with the hullshape and the effect the waves have against it. Though it doesn’t help that on the lake I go to with only 15km winds the waves nearly come over the bow lol I want to take it out in 20km+ but I want to work up to it.

8/9/07 Delightful! I’ve watched it about 8 times. Mesmerizing with the music. Perfect choice, just as kbrockman12 said. But what is the music title? And when will we get a follow-up? Have you made any changes/improvements to the boat?

I think the music is off of pirates of the caribbean. I have another vid of it if you go to my video’s.

Well done. You may need a bigger centre board for better upwind results – I can’t quite see what you have got. You might need some buoyancy bags just in case of capsize.

What a cool sailboat! You guys did an incredible job. It was hard to see around you, but it looked like the boat left very little wake – a sign that the shape is good. My first cat had serious noise at the back at high speeds, due to swirling water. You got it right on the first try. Nice job.

Incredible! It’s so great to see that there are still folks in America who can do something besides watch T.V. in their spare time. I’m a great fan of low-budget contraptions, having constructed an almost-successful winged bicycle and other crazy things in the past. Your video has inspired me to get up out of my computer chair and finish the 10′ plywood sailboat I was building in my shed.
By all means, keep it up!
May your seas be calm and the wind steady.

Great boat. I finished my 13′ sailing skiff back in July. Hopefully I can get a video of her posted. I left her in the rain (though she’s completly sealed) and starboard side hull is delaminating. I hope all is going well for you.

Yeah all is going great with mine, rain, snow ice its doing quite well. Sailing on a fine day, the wind came up unreal I dropped sail and drifted into an inlet, waves were washing over slightly. The boat handled better than I thought.

I’ve owned several sailboats from 10 to 25 ft long. You guys proove what I’ve always said. “No one on the lake or in the sea is having any more fun than you just because they have a bigger boat.” In fact they may be having lots less fun because they’re thinking about the dock fee or oil change or getting back to the office to make the money for their boat.

Great Job! Your workmanship looks really great, if you’ve never been a round boats you really did an outstanding job. One thing was missing though… THE BEER!!! You guys were completely unprepared! What would have happened if you got stuck out there? Things could have gotten really ugly! jk

Man I so want to build a boat exactly like that… I want to live on the water, sleep in a hamock and have a raft floating behind it to grow vegetables on…
How much plywood did you use? How long a boat is it? I bet I could find a cheaper tarp.
