I wanna build a pirate ship.?
I wanna build an 80ft. pirate ship, but would it be easier to build it as an single hull, or an catmaran style hull? if i do catamaran does it need a keel? The single hull, if I wanna make it 80′ long, and 25′ wide, how tall from the keel to the top of the hull be?
Questions on adjusting centerboard when sailing a small dinghy?
If keelboats can sail all points of sail with a fixed keel, why do you need to adjust the centerboard on a small dingy when sail downwind?

More catamaran stories, suggestions or advice?
Thanks for the responce so far CHAX and Robert R as well as Capt.J anyone else inclined to advice a neophyte sailor on Cat versus Keel?
Does anyone know about fresh water lakes close by McAllen, Texas?
I have friends who moved there and love it. I may go visit because I like what I see online. I have a 24-foot sailboat with 4’4″ inch fixed keel draft that I sail on Belton Lake in Central Texas. It’s a deep water lake and popular with the sailboat set. Anything remotely like that in close driving distance to McAllen with marinas for year-round dockage?

do i need a license to sail a keel boat?
I’ve decided to take up sailing here in San Diego I’m looking into schools at present but I not clear if a keelboat certification is necessary
