Sailing in the Caribbean!?

normally, round about christmas time, we go sailing in the british virgin islands! we fly from england to antigua, then get a crappy little transfer to beef island. last time we went, we were stranded for 24 hours on the way home because of the transfer flight company liat, who made us miss our flight back to england! because of this we are considering sailing some where else this christmas time, however, we have fallen in love with the B.V.I.’s rustic feel and are slightly reluctant to change our sailing ground.

could you tell me abit about the nature of other sailing locations in the Caribbean. E.g. differences between the north and south caribbean, where could we go, what the sailing and feel of the place is like and how busy is it likely to be in terms of competition for moorings and how many flights we would need to get there.

the area must be suitable for catamarans, must not be to busy that the competition for moorings is more than average for the Caribbean and finally, still on the topic of moorings, the more the better, we hate anchoring over night!

any info or advice would be helpful!

thankyou!

My wife and I are thinking about going on a cruise, but she gets seasick on small boats. How are big boats?

The last time I took my wife on a boat, it was a 31′ catamaran in the Belizean reef. Of course, it had that smooth rocking motion, and my wife spent most of the time underneath puking? How is the motion on cruise ships? I’d prefer answers from people who have experienced this their selves.

how should i catch fish in the summer in shallow water?

I fish youth bass tournaments and I only have a jon boat. I do have a 5 hp engine but we lost the bill of sale for the boat so we cannot use the engine. So, as of now im running a 56 lb thrust trolling motor. The Championship date is coming up and obviously the bass are deep here in Virginia. The deepest water around the ramp we launch out of is about 10-13 feet deep for about a mile till it hits a nice 26 feet, where there just so happens to be brush piles down deep and a river chanel. I know it is a good spot because i went out there with my friend but last time i went there with my jon boat i didnt have enough battery to make it back to the ramp and ended up getting towed back after like 2 hours. There are a lot of weeds along the edge of the shallows however and some stick ups in about 9 feet of water. I have given this so much thought but the stick ups didnt produce besides some crappie last time i fished them with a spinnerbait. The weeds only gave me a few shorts. Does anyone have any suggestions? Honestly, I thought about making my own brush piles lol.

Okay! One more time. No one got it last time I asked. How about now?

If you were going down the four-lanes in a canoe and your front tire fell off, how many pancakes would it take to cover a doghouse?

2 people own something, 1 person breaks it?

I asked this before but perhaps I didn’t provide enough details. I got blackout drunk and probably hit a yacht with my dinghy, and lost the engine in the process. The boat is fine, but the engine is gone, to the bottom of the ocean. My roommate and I paid $425 each for the engine, and we had it for about a month. Now, I had some snotty “Irresponsible, rant rant rant” shit last time, but I’m 22 and I’ll be having a good time till I’m ready to settle down. Till then, I’m going to have fun, and do dumb shit, because that’s what you do.

Anyway, the roommate believes the same philosophy and we both routinely take the dingy out for drunken voyages, so this could have happened to either of us. Also, I’m not 100% sure I hit a yacht, I was blackout drunk, and I don’t know what happened. I could have swore it wasn’t my fault, but what little I know points to me hitting a yacht, and it’s the only thing that makes sense. What do I owe my roommate? Also, I’m moving in a month, he’ll be here for 4 more. Perhaps that’s relevant.
I suspect a boring life is fine for you folks, but I’m looking for something a bit more interesting. I live on a boat in the Virgin Islands. I’ll be in Portland Oregon in a month, and Vegas 2 months after that, then I’ll be back in Michigan for a bit. I’m not out doing seriously dangerous stuff, the dinghy is inflatable and I’m reckless, even if I hit something it wouldn’t be damaged.

But that’s brings up another point, I don’t know how I could have possibly hit another boat with it, in such a way that the engine would pop off. It doesn’t seem possible, I really can’t work out the dynamics of it. But I can’t think of any other way that has any possibility. The engine didn’t even have a reverse, so in order for it to hit a boat while in forward most likely going fast… I don’t know, it doesn’t add up to me.

Anyway, thanks for the responses, I’d prefer some without the social criticisms concerning my lifestyle, because I’m having a good time and making good money.
